Brooklyn born, AOS° aka Sebastien Guidetti, delivers a delicious menu of organic music on his new album release Visions Of The Future.
Emerging new artist to watch, AOS° aka Sebastien Guidetti was born in Brooklyn New York to Swiss & American parents. When he was five, they moved back to Switzerland where he began playing drums. Later the family went back to America, and Seb continued to study and play drums into his teens. He went on to the prestigious The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, a highly reputed creative institution in New England. When Sebastien first visited the school, there were teenagers outside the front door who resembled the cast of Fame, many of whom were puffing on cigarettes. Having been expelled from his suburban high school for smoking, Seb felt he could fit in with these kids. It was maybe one of the first Visions Of The Future in Sebastien’s musical career.
The school fundamentally set Sebastien towards his destiny by introducing him to the world of music. It was deeply rooted in Jazz, and travelled through all the instruments and genres, from vibraphone to tympani. And from on-stage to orchestra pit. He was guided by a great faculty but also was influenced by his peers who came from many backgrounds. The level of The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts was heralded in all of New England by the many awards they had amassed at a yearly competition held at The Berklee School of Music in Boston. In his senior year, his school was honoured by more prizes and Seb’s crowning achievement was a “Best Musician” award. “Sebastien’s performance was highlighted by his ability to hold the band together with his precise drumming as well as demonstrating outstanding musical ability on the vibraphone” said the judges.
New artist to watch, AOS° aka Sebastien Guidetti had several offers from pretsigious American schools, and he chose to attend The New School of Jazz in New York City. No one forsaw 9/11, but three weeks into the program, Sebastien watched the second plane crash into The World Trade Center from the front door of his school. The doors of his musical career had just opened, but his future had become uncertain as the towers crashed. It brought Sebastien back to Switzerland and he enrolled in The Conservatoire de Musique in Montreux. This was not what he was used to, as the Swiss school focused more on making Seb a music teacher rather than a world class performer like in America, so he turned towards another direction, electronics. He enrolled in trade school, tore apart and reconstructed computers and built a sound studio in a Montreux basement.
A dark dingy and chilly cellar below century old buildings is not the place you’d think one would see Visions Of The Future, but to Seb, this was where he could see the light at the end of tunnel. He soundproofed the cold hard granite walls, sealed in a sound booth, built himself a powerful computer and started recording. Musicians came, as well as rappers, singers and friends. Many lacked the ability to compose, so he began composing. Sebastien became a musical ecosystem in himself, and so came the term Art Of Sound, now known as AOS° aka Sebastien Guidetti. Sebastien is a musical virtuoso who knows how to read and write music, play most instruments as well as cutting and pasting tracks.
Soundcloud enters the realm of Sebastien’s Visions Of The Future. As he posted his compositions on the musical platform. Various singers, lyricists and musicians from near and very far took notice of his music and knocked at his Soundcloud door. His well rooted jazz compositions grew organically with the help of his new Soundcloud friends with soul and colors ranging from R&B, rock, dance and Latin.
Sebastien aptly called his album Visions Of The Future. It features several R&B tracks with guest artists from the US and UK. Some will release your dance instincts and others will seduce the clothes off your back. “Goune Da One” featuring Moh Dediouf, brings Senegal into the modern Euro dance floor. “Final Stand” is an incredibly profound modern blues track with Mark Kelly on vocals. “Wired To Fight” is a powerful cinematic arrangement begging to support the credits of a blockbuster thriller. “Mi Botella” is a Latin influenced song that’s bound to be a hit in the bigger America, with it’s solid rhythm, lighthearted rap, and easy melody. The album Visions Of The Future, will not fit into a specific category, but it will be understood by everyone who has a playlist which always feature diverse genres of music.
